描寫的故事很簡單，就是愛因斯坦如何思考出廣義相對論來解釋宇宙的運行
而英國科學家愛丁頓又如何摒除己見，將種族的仇恨以及對牛頓理論偉大的陰影擱在一旁
藉由觀星的實際行動，以科學方法證實太陽的重力使星光彎曲，以此驗證廣義相對論的正確性
就跟「Tommy」、「Rent」這些以搖滾樂撼動百老匯舞台的戲碼一樣，「搖滾芭比」透過搖滾樂的情緒因子激爆舞台劇的戲劇性格，字裡行間滿佈對現實世界所謂的傳統與真理的質疑、不滿、憤怒、挑釁，全都在龐克樂架構的園地進行一場非常放肆的宣洩，開場的"Tear Me Down"流暢琴音與搖滾勁道匯聚成龐然的情緒，搖滾樂的叛逆性格極致呈現，帶出主角針對世俗二分法的強烈質疑與不滿，也提出'爭議'與'對立'相互依存的觀點，傳承滾石合唱團藍調搖滾味道的迷思小品"The Origin Of Love"算是此戲的重要題旨，以戲謔的寓言撥開性別謎團的源頭--寂寞，調點鄉村民謠藍調搖滾口味的"Sugar Daddy"撕裂色慾狂底層的控制慾望，哀傷迷惘與輕快瀟灑情緒交錯的"Wig In A Box"道出變裝女從悔意與無奈裡慢慢走出歲月陰霾的百樣心情，由鋼琴主奏帶出的絕佳酒吧藍調氣氛小品"Wicked Little Town"描述不被世俗所接受的淪落人患難與共的失落感。
